Clear Engagement
A Clear Leadership Program for Physicians
Based on Dr Gervase Bushe's international and highly successful Clear Leadership program, Clear Engagement applies evidence based neuropychological concepts to support the development of clear self, interpersonal and organizational understanding and promote effective partnerships. This is a skills development program rather than coaching. The skills developed offer value in dealing with patients, peers, staff and healthcare systems. The full syllabus can be found here. The techniques complete other leadership learning and coaching, and provide a practical approach to put diverse leadership models into practice.
At this time, no open Clear Engagement Courses are planned but courses set up specifically for an organization or group can be arranged. Please contact Malcolm at coach@optimisticdoc.com to discuss details.
Enrollment is limited to 16 people per course offering.
The course is divided into 3 modules:
1. Module 1: Engaging Self Clearly - this focuses on developing self awareness of the component of one's own experience and learning to accruately describe that experience in a way that maximizes understanding and reduces reactivity. (4 X 4 hour virtual sessions or 2 day onsite event)
2. Module 2: Engaging Others Clearly (requires completion of module 1) - This builds n the unit 1 skills and explores effective techniques for inquiring about and understanding the experience of others in a non-threatening way, while seeing past reaction and defensiveness. (2 X 4 hour virtual sessions or 1 day onsite event).
3. Module 3: Engaging Systems Clearly (requires completion of module 1 and 2) - This takes the techniques of the previous sections and explores their application in workplace conflict, quality improvement and system change. (2 X 4 hour virtual sessions or 1 day onsite event).
