The Optimistic Doc Group Programs

All programs are available using an interactive live webinar format
Have you considered the advantages of group coaching programs?
  • flexible scheduling that allows you to select times that work with your organization's schedule
  • your team work and learn together
  • relationship challenges and opportunities are easily surfaced and addressed
  • the coaching time becomes a real source of productivity
  • the group environment can successfully blend training, mentoring and coaching

Group coaching is where a group of individuals with common interests benefit from coaching in a group environment, drawing on the support of the coach and eachother.  The agenda and topics explored are set by mutual agreement of the group.

Team coaching can resemble group coaching, but in the case of teams, the interdependency of individuals in the team and usually the presence of some externally determined expectations influence the focus. Sometimes, team coaching is paired with individual coaching of the team leader by the same or a different coach.

Seminars consist of modest pre-reading assignments,  short presentations interspersed with participant activities in small groups, dyads or triads.  Seminars can be delivered at the client's location, or within limits via Zoom. Ongoing coaching can be provided in groups where individuals with a common interest choose to be coached collectively, or to teams, committees or boards who share responsibility for meeting objectives and can be supported virtually.  Ongoing group and team coaching is usually supported virtually.  Please contact the Optimistic Doc to review your needs and the type of content that can be offered.  The Optimistic Doc is happy to collaborate with other presenters in educational and developmental events.
The following list provides some examples of workshops that Malcolm has led for a number of healthcare organizations.
  • Coaching for leaders - introduction to the core concepts of coaching and some of the key competencies
  • Crucial conversations - explores the neurobiology of reactivity and engagement and provides practical training in evidence supported techniques to turn potential confrontations into learning conversations
  • Power, influence and change in healthcare - this explores the common features of healthcare governance in Canada, identifying points where correct use of different types of corporate power and application of influence strategies can achieve meaningful change
  • Achieving wellness in the healthcare workplace - this reviews the evidence around determinants of burnout and concepts that have been found helpful at the individual and organizational level to promote wellness and fulfillment in the workplace.
  • Better meetings - this explores the interactions that make good and bad meetings, offers strategies for dealing with behaviours that distract meetings and examines the rise of the virtual meeting and what is needed to adapt to the new realities.
  • Understanding teams -  this explores the development of teams as a life form in their own right and how team leaders must, recognize and adapt to the growth and development of their team to get the best results.
