9.00 a.m Welcome
9.15 a.m. The Language and Science of Thriving. With a high level of audience participation, we will review some the relevant history and science behind learning to thrive in challenging times. Participants will be introduced to the concepts of self determination theory and the PERMA model as frameworks for reflecting and planning around a thriving career.
10.15 a.m. Morning health break
10.40 a.m. Put on your own O2 mask first. Significant career planning or change requires objective, careful thought and reflection. Finding the space for this within the pressure and chaos of healthcare is a big part of success. After a short presentation, table groups will brainstorm how to
- step out of the tornado (shifting perspective)
- put out the head trash (challengingbeliefs that get in our way)
- find the sweet spot on the stress performance curve
- build workplace alliances and friendships.
12.00 noon Networking lunch
1.00 p.m. My better future career Part 1. What would work look like if you spent more time doing what makes your heart sing? In this first session participants are invited to identify that which they would like to do more of, design their ideal workplace and begin to identify the personal steps needed to get there.
2.15 p.m Afternoon health break
2.40 p.m. My better future career Part 2. Following on from the previous section, this part will explore the untapped ability of physicians to drive system changes. Including a presentation on types of power and influence, some key concepts in influencing change in organizations are introduced and discussed. Participants invited to identify and strategize around a system change they would like to see to support their journey to thriving in their workplace.
4.00 p.m. Final Debrief, Questions and Discussion
4.15 p.m. Call to Action - Participants are asked to identify next steps in their journeys and are invited to form accountability partnerships with other participants.
4.30 p.m. Adjourn

Please register early as places are limited to keep the experience personal
We welcome participants from beyond the Okanagan and are holding a block of rooms at the beautiful Manteo Resort on the shore of Okanagan Lake, steps away from the Mission Greenway trails and close to many of the region's attractions. Accommodation must be booked separately from registration. The resort is easily accessible by car, taxi or airport shuttle and is about 20 minutes from YLW airport.
