I am a physician with 5 decades of healthcare experience who uses neuroscience informed coaching to help healthcare professionals be great leaders, make the best career choices, thrive through conflict, and find meaning, balance and happiness in their vocation.

My coaching can help you, your group or team develop personal insights, acquire skills to achieve your goals, manage and reduce conflict or stress, and align your life and priorities.

Coaching is offered on an hourly rate basis (suitable for people, groups or teams who are looking for a short term commitment or intermittent check ins, or as 3 or 6 month unlimited coaching packages* suitable for more intensive coaching around life or career changes. The initial introductory session is complementary.
Workshops are offered on a virtual or in person basis. Please contact The Optimistic Doc for rates and availability.
(* unlimited coaching means the client may book as many sessions as they want subject to scheduling availability.  Please note that conflict coaching, which works to a more structured program, is only available as a 3 month unlimited coaching agreement.)

I know there are different characters in my group who were not all on the same page as me. Malcolm’s coaching helped bring out these differences of opinion in a non-threatening manner

It is refreshing to get a second set of eyes and ears; Malcolm’s coaching gives me incentive to work on things between coaching appointments that I would likely not have done without that commitment / reporting back.

Malcolm is a great sounding board. He helps me reach important conclusions on my own with guidance, but also supports me with sharing some helpful insights. Great balance!

Through Malcolm’s coaching I now recognize (earlier) patterns of behaviour and interpersonal relationships that I now have tools (like the CUBE) to deploy.  Doing the EQ-I was instrumental.

I found Malcolm a very rounded person with a good lot of experience behind. He has seen the various types of things many workplaces struggle with and therefore was able to zoom right into the crux of the matter.

Malcolm’s coaching has provided me with the tools and mindset to evaluate in real-time and upon reflection, the patterns and stories that I bring to my interactions in work and life. It was really helpful to have done the EQ-I 2.0 evaluation.

I found Malcolm’s coaching very non-threatening and honest. It was not meant to be a kumbaya session. It did not white wash anything but at the same time it did not threaten anyone. It searched for strengths in everyone.
